About us
An independent garage, 15 years in
Fernley Garage is five people in a four-bay unit on the south side of town. We do what a main dealer does, with the same equipment and the same parts, at an hourly rate that started at half theirs and has stayed there.
Three things we do that a chain won’t
We call before extra work
With a photo and a fixed price. If you say no, the car goes back together and you pay the quote.
We give you the old parts
In a box on the passenger seat, if you want them. A worn disc explains itself.
We tell you what can wait
Amber items go on the report with a date. We would rather see you next year than sell you something today.
Who will work on your car
No faces on the website, by choice. You will meet them at the counter.
- Dan Fernley Founder, master technician Twenty years on dealer ramps before opening the yard in 2011.
- Rosa Kowal Workshop manager Runs the diary, the bays and the phone. Will tell you straight if you can wait.
- Jide Adeyemi Technician, high-voltage qualified Hybrids, electric cars and anything with a warning light.
- Matt Lowe Technician Clutches, brakes and the annual test lane.
- Sian Brook Apprentice technician Third year, tyres and servicing. Ask her about tread depth.
What customers say after the first visit
“Booked online on Sunday night, sat in the waiting room with my laptop on Monday and drove off before lunch. The price on the screen was the price on the invoice.”
“The dealer wanted over £1,300. Fernley did it for £859 with a dual-mass flywheel check, gave me the courtesy car, and the van was ready at half three as promised.”
“They rang before touching the rear brakes, sent me a photo of the worn pad and the price. No pressure. I said yes and it was done the same afternoon.”
“Engine light had been on for a month and two places just cleared it. Here they found a split vacuum hose, showed it to me, and knocked the £69 off the repair.”
“Hybrid owners get told to go back to the main dealer. These guys had the right software, stamped the book and the warranty people accepted it without a question.”
“Rang at nine, fitted by eleven. They told me the other two had a year left and to leave them. That honesty is why I keep coming back.”
“Clean waiting room, decent coffee and a printed checklist of the 42 checks with notes on each. Very different from the chain I used before.”
“Grinding noise on the Friday, booked a wait slot for Saturday morning. Fixed price, old discs handed back in a box so I could see why.”
